Who we are

ArcDrive, for Mac and iPhone, is made by Daniel Kewley in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). If you have a question about this policy or your data, email [email protected].

What we collect

Nothing, through the apps. ArcDrive has no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The apps don't send anything about you, your files or how you use them to us or to anyone else.

Your catalog stays on your devices

ArcDrive's catalog is a record of the files on the drives you add: their names, folders, sizes and dates. It's kept on your Mac, in ArcDrive's own folder or one you choose, and on your iPhone if you use the iPhone app. It never comes to us. The same goes for your settings and ArcDrive's activity log.

On your Mac, ArcDrive reads your drives using the one permission you give it for your Mac and its drives. On your iPhone, it reads a drive plugged into it only once you've chosen that drive in the Files picker. It never uploads your files or their contents. On your iPhone it never changes a drive. On your Mac it only changes a drive when you've switched to Advanced mode and confirmed a removal.

Syncing between your Mac and iPhone (ArcDrive Pro)

With ArcDrive Pro, your catalog syncs both ways between your Mac and your iPhone through your own private iCloud storage, using Apple's CloudKit: drives you catalog on your Mac appear on your iPhone, and drives you add or sync on your iPhone appear on your Mac. It's stored in your iCloud account, under Apple's terms and security, and counts towards your iCloud storage. We can't see or access it. Only the catalog is copied: file names, folders, sizes and dates, never the files themselves.

You can turn syncing off in ArcDrive's Settings on your Mac (Sync with iPhone), and remove everything ArcDrive has stored in your iCloud from there.

Purchases

ArcDrive Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment. We never see your card or payment details, or your name or email address. Apple only tells the app which ArcDrive purchases your Apple Account owns, so it can turn Pro on. Subscriptions and refunds are managed by Apple.

Crash reports

If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device's settings, Apple may pass us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics about ArcDrive. These don't identify you, and we only use them to fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in your device's Privacy & Security settings.

If you email us

If you contact support, we'll have your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply to you. We don't add you to a mailing list or share your email. We delete support emails once they're no longer needed.

This website

arcdrive.co.uk uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. The server that hosts it keeps standard, short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to keep it running and secure.

Children

ArcDrive isn't aimed at children, and it doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice the only personal data we might hold is a support email you've sent. Email [email protected] and we'll help. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes to this policy

If ArcDrive changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the apps.
